2012 Report of Gratitude

You made the difference

2012 Report of Gratitude

The Catholic Foundation is delighted to share a handful of stories that represent the profound impact you, our more than 28,000 donors, have made on the lives of tens of thousands of individuals and families in the 20 counties of the Diocese of Sacramento. We hope you will find joy and spiritual satisfaction in the part you play in this worthwhile effort to build the kingdom of God in our Northern California communities.

Thank you for your support this year. Please take a moment to celebrate all that you do.

This month, we invite you to learn more about the Sacramento Life Center. For the past 40 years, the Life Center has been empowering women and men in the Sacramento region to choose LIFE for their preborn children.

This critical mission is accomplished by:
• Providing free, compassionate education, support and medical services to abortion-vulnerable pregnant women and their husbands/boyfriends;
• Helping anyone involved in a past abortion heal from that experience; and
• Promoting a culture of LIFE through community education and outreach.

Serving People in Need

Just before lent, Catholics across the diocese have an opportunity to respond to the call of our faith — to be stewards of human dignity. Fifty percent of net proceeds from the Annual Catholic Appeal enable 20 local organizations of — or associated with — Catholic Charities of Sacramento to provide hope and help to those in desperate need.

Every day, countless good works are happening in the Diocese of Sacramento because of the widespread support the Annual Catholic Appeal. In 2011, more than $3.2 million in contributions from over 20,000 participants helped bring hope and help to people of all ages in desperate need.

Throughout the year, The Catholic Foundation will feature spotlights on Appeal dollars at work in our Diocese. This month we invite you to learn more about Wellspring Women’s Center, celebrating 25 years of service in July.

2012 Annual Catholic Appeal

Annual Catholic Appeal will support social services, seminarians and Catholic education

Approximately 100,000 Catholic households in the diocese will be receiving advance notice of the 2012 Annual Catholic Appeal through a brochure and envelope sent to them by The Catholic Foundation of the Diocese of Sacramento. The weekend for the Annual Catholic Appeal collection in parishes is Feb. 11-12.

"I would like to express my gratitude for your heartfelt and continued response to those who come to the doors of our parishes, schools and social service organizations looking for hope and a hand up," says Bishop Jaime Soto in a letter to donors.
