On Sept. 8, more than 450 people gathered for The Catholic Advantage Celebration, a new annual event to recognize the many achievements of Catholic schools and all those who make them what they are today.
During the evening, Msgr. Edward J. Kavanagh (shown above, right, with Bishop Jaime Soto) and the Christian Brothers were honored as the recipients of the two inaugural Lifetime Achievement Awards for their longstanding and impactful contributions to Catholic schools in the diocese. For more than a half-century, Msgr. Kavanagh led St. Rose Parish and St. Patrick’s School and Orphanage in south Sacramento, while the Christian Brothers have made a lasting impact on the diocese that will be felt for years to come.
