Stewardship shines in our youth as they witness their part in our greater Catholic community. Their needs as young people are at the heart of the opportunities created for them to model their faith by serving others. In 2010, more than 25,000 students participated in K-8 faith formation with 7,132 receiving the sacrament of first Eucharist and 5,135 celebrating Confirmation.
In October The Catholic Foundation hosted a SUCCEED* Schools celebration. Bishop Soto shared his vision for and commitment to Catholic education with more than 225 supporters in attendance. All were inspired by three eighth-grade speakers each representing one of the local SUCCEED schools.
Odalez Cuevas of Holy Cross shared, “I realize how lucky I am to have had the privilege of a Catholic education. Even if I don’t get to attend a Catholic High School the whole experience will be in my heart forever.” Odalez will be attending Christian Brothers High School in the fall.
