On Tuesday, June 1st, more than 300 clergy, religious and lay leaders, from across the Diocese gathered at St. Anthony Parish in Sacramento for the 2010 Diocesan Stewardship Conference. The conference was presented by the Catholic Foundation of the Diocese of Sacramento.
The attendees were treated to a day of inspiration, idea sharing, and practical advice by local and national leaders in the Catholic Church. Bishop Jaime Soto welcomed the guests and shared his appreciation for the many gifts they share to support the works of the local Church. Fr. Daniel Mahan, Director of the Marian University Center for Catholic Stewardship gave an inspiring talk on Stewardship and Spirituality.
Following lunch, Bishop Sylvester Ryan, Bishop Emeritus for the Diocese of Monterey, shared wonderful insights on Stewardship and Evangelization. The afternoon session included a series of five (5) workshops for attendees to choose from – all providing practical ideas for implementing Stewardship – including:
- Best Practices in Parish Stewardship (Presented by Leisa Anslinger)
- The Parish Website - an Essential Tool for Ministry (Presented by Carson Weber)
- Building Effective Stewardship on the Foundation of the Hispanic culture (Presented by Fr. Lino O. Otero, LC)
- New Trends in Managing Your Parish Data (Presented by Dan Smith, from ParishSOFT)
- Stewardship for Children and Youth (Presented by Kevin Staszkow, Linda DiNinni, and Christine Ledesma)
The conference closed with a spiritually uplifting prayer service officiated by Rev. Msgr. James Kidder and Sandi Holland providing the music.
